About the Role
The Frontshop Assistant will play a critical role in ensuring that The Local Choice (TLC) Corporate Stores deliver excellent merchandising practices aligned with company policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Merchandising and Stock Management:
- Restock merchandise as needed to ensure maximum sales potential.
- Ensure stock is stored and packed appropriately, adhering to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
- Maintain shelf displays by rotating stock and ensuring all items are within their sell-by dates.
- Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged goods, and expired stock to management promptly.
- Assist with cycle counts, general stocktaking, and adhering to corporate stock control procedures.
- Store Organization:
- Keep the storeroom neat, tidy, and organized.
- Ensure shelves are always neatly presented with accurate pricing and labels.
- Facilitate the unpacking and handling of merchandise to prevent losses.
- Customer Service:
- Provide friendly, helpful, and professional assistance to customers.
- Address customer queries regarding stock availability efficiently.
- Support customers with restocking needs and back shopping when required.
- Adherence to Standards:
- Uphold TLC Corporate Stores’ merchandising policies and operating standards.
- Maintain proper housekeeping at the workstation and in other assigned areas.
- Follow all company policies, including those related to health and safety, uniform, and personal appearance.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with management, customers, and team members to ensure smooth store operations.
- Assist in training new and existing team members.
- Report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior to management.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12/Matric.
- Experience: 0-6 months of retail work experience.
- Language Skills: Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding).
Advantageous Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience in the retail sector.
- Familiarity with merchandising standards, FMCG industry practices, and planograms.
- Knowledge of category management.
- Proficiency in a second additional language.
