    Job Summary

    As an ICT Support professional at ADvTECH, you will be on the front line of handling and resolving incidents involving applications and related workplace equipment. By providing immediate and efficient assistance, you will enable users across the campus to effectively leverage ADvTECH’s technology resources. This role encompasses both user and service support, focusing on root cause analysis, incident resolution, and maintaining service levels.

    Key Responsibilities

    Desktop Support

    • User Assistance: Act as a primary responder to logged requests, prioritizing support requests from users who need assistance with the catalog of services.
    • Incident Logging and Tracking: Utilize an incident and problem management database, managed through the service desk, to log and monitor calls.
    • Problem Resolution: Recognize, investigate, and resolve routine issues independently, while escalating complex issues to the campus Senior ICT Support.

    Software and Hardware Installations and Support

    • Desktop and Laptop Setup: Prepare desktop and laptop systems for campus use by installing authorized software, completing documentation, and ensuring readiness for use.
    • Peripheral Installations: Install and configure hardware such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives.
    • Boardroom and Training Support: Ensure that boardrooms and training areas are equipped with necessary IT support, including setup and troubleshooting of video conferencing equipment.

    IT Administrative Duties

    • Liaison with Service Providers: Coordinate with external service providers for equipment repairs and ongoing maintenance.
    • Asset Administration: Maintain and update a hardware and software asset register, documenting assets and their lifecycle, including disposal.
    • Software Licensing: Administer the software license bank, ensuring compliance with licensing requirements.
    • Maintenance of IT Facilities: Regularly organize and tidy the IT storeroom, server room, and office areas to minimize health and safety risks.

    Essential Qualifications

    Candidates must have one of the following:

    • Higher Certificate, Occupational Certificate Level 5, or equivalent NQF Level 5 qualification
    • A+ / N+ Certification
    • At least six months of internship experience in a related field

    • Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrates a willingness to assist and strong communication abilities, ensuring users feel supported.
    • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in computer systems, with a solid understanding of systems administration and software/hardware troubleshooting.
    • Organizational Skills: Strong time management and organizational abilities, with flexibility to work outside of standard hours if needed.
    • Problem Solving: Initiative in identifying issues and creating practical solutions within a high-pressure environment.
    • Driver’s License and Transport: Required for handling tasks across different campus locations and to meet operational needs effectively.
