About the Graduate Internship Programme
Impala Platinum is committed to supporting youth skills development through its structured Graduate Internship Programme. This programme is designed to help nursing graduates gain essential work experience relevant to the platinum group metals (PGM) mining sector.
The internship lasts for 24 months and provides comprehensive training that covers primary health care, medical surveillance, and occupational disease management. Participants will receive hands-on experience promoting health and safety, helping to maintain a healthy workforce, and reducing workplace-related health risks.
Who Should Apply?
The programme is open to candidates with an NQF Level 6 Diploma in General Nursing or Occupational Health. Registration with the South African Nursing Council is an added advantage but not mandatory. Candidates should possess basic nursing knowledge, be familiar with primary health care and health screening procedures such as spirometry and audiometry, and understand occupational health legislation.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are essential. Applicants must also be medically fit to undergo Baseline Medical Risk (BMR) or Pre-Placement Medical Risk (PMR) assessments.
Key Responsibilities in the Graduate Internship Programme
During the 24-month Graduate Internship Programme, interns will:

- Provide health education on lifestyle and wellness to employees and contractors.
- Assist with medical surveillance programs including pre-employment, routine, annual, and exit medical assessments.
