Key Responsibilities
Strategic Learning & Development Leadership
- Lead the Strategy: Implement and lead Dis-Chem’s L&D strategy, ensuring it aligns with the company’s business objectives. Your leadership will be crucial in directing Learning Partners and stakeholders to deliver impactful learning solutions.
- Innovation & Best Practices: Act as a thought leader, introducing innovative ideas and global best practices in learning and development. Leverage technology to create a robust learning ecosystem that includes eLearning and mLearning platforms.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure that all L&D activities comply with Dis-Chem’s governance framework and national regulations, including BBBEE and skills development legislation.
Learning Needs Analysis & Solution Design
- Annual Learning Needs Analysis (LNA): Lead the LNA process, ensuring it aligns with Dis-Chem’s talent development and succession planning objectives. Validate and prioritise development needs in consultation with stakeholders.
- Design & Develop Learning Solutions: Oversee the creation of innovative, scalable learning solutions that meet Dis-Chem’s strategic goals. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design talent pipeline programmes and comprehensive onboarding processes.
Learning Delivery & Evaluation
- Programme Management: Ensure the effective and timely delivery of all learning programmes, including critical initiatives like Learnerships and Internships.
- Evaluation Framework: Implement a robust evaluation framework to assess the impact of learning initiatives on organisational performance and recommend improvements.
Stakeholder Management & Reporting
- Build Relationships: Foster strong relationships with HR leaders, business units, and external partners. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on L&D matters.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all learning activities comply with B-BBEE, SETA, and other regulatory requirements. Oversee the administration and data management of learning initiatives, providing regular reports on key learning metrics.
Budget Management
- Manage the L&D Budget: Oversee the annual L&D budget, ensuring alignment with Dis-Chem’s financial objectives. Monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising the quality of learning solutions.
Requirements
Essential:
- Education: Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in learning and development, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
Advantageous:
- Advanced Education: A post-graduate degree in a relevant field or ETDP qualification.
- Industry Experience: Previous experience in the Retail/FMCG/Logistics industry.
Competencies and Skills
To excel in this role, you must possess a strong understanding of HR principles, the Skills Development Act, and the BBBEE framework. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP SuccessFactors, and eLearning tools like Articulate/Storyline is essential. The role demands excellent decision-making skills, effective communication, and the ability to build constructive working relationships.
