Medical Officer Job Description
The Medical Officer will collaborate closely with the hospital management and clinical teams to uphold Clinix Health Group’s commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare services. The primary responsibilities include offering medical expertise, contributing to effective hospital management, and ensuring the safety and quality of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Medical and Clinical Advisory: Support efficient hospital management by offering expert clinical advice and assisting with policy formulation and execution.
- Team Collaboration: Build productive relationships across teams to improve work quality and support Clinix Health Group’s goals of high-standard patient care.
- Patient Management: Oversee patient care, manage admitted cases, and handle ICU patients, emergency cases, and assist in surgical procedures when necessary.
- Governance and Risk Management: Manage reporting, risk, and governance within the assigned area of responsibility.
- Clinical Support: Conduct clinical audits, support hospital management, and participate in continuous professional development.
- Emergency Preparedness: Handle all medical emergencies effectively and ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality medical service delivery.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience requirements:
- Educational Qualification: MBChB/MBBCh or an equivalent medical degree.
- Professional Registration: Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a medical practitioner in independent practice.
- Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of post-registration experience in independent practice, with hands-on experience as a Medical Officer in a healthcare facility.
- Specialized Skills: Proficiency in medical ethics and a strong clinical background in general practice.
- Preferred Certifications: Advanced qualifications such as ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), APLS (Advanced Pediatric Life Support), or ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) are beneficial.
