About the Role
The role of a merchandiser is integral to ensuring that Dis-Chem’s high standards of merchandising are consistently maintained. The ideal candidate will be responsible for stocking shelves, managing inventory, and maintaining the overall presentation of the store. Key Responsibilities
Merchandisers will be expected to:
- Replenish merchandise to maintain sales levels.
- Store and pack stock accurately and promptly.
- Monitor expiry dates and ensure FIFO (First-In-First-Out) principles are applied.
- Report low stock levels, damaged items, and expired products.
- Conduct stock counts and assist with stocktaking activities.
- Follow store layout and merchandising planograms.
- Flatten and dispose of boxes in designated areas post-unpacking.
- Ensure shelves are neat, products are visible, and pricing is accurate.
- Keep up to date with product knowledge and ensure correct labeling of items.
- Assist with customer stock queries and resolve issues promptly.
- Build and maintain merchandising displays.
- Handle merchandise with care to minimize losses.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric Certificate.
- Up to six months of retail experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Willingness to work flexible retail hours.
Advantageous:
- At least one year of retail experience.
- Bilingual communication skills.
- Familiarity with merchandising standards in the FMCG industry.

- Strong command of the English language.
- A presentable and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to engage effectively with customers, management, and colleagues.
- Trustworthiness and honesty.
- Efficient time management skills.
Additional Attributes:
- Knowledge of ZMORE reports for stock analysis.

- Possess reliable transportation or reside near the store.
- Have a clear credit and criminal record.
- Be willing to work retail hours.
