Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum Requirements:
- Matric Certificate
- 1 to 3 years of secretarial or office assistant experience in a legal environment
- Valid Driver’s License
- Preferred Qualifications:
- LLB degree or completion of at least 20 modules towards an LLB, BA/BCOM Law degree (Results required with the application)
Key Responsibilities
- Communication and Scheduling:
- Manage incoming and outgoing calls
- Schedule and diarize appointments and meetings for the Judge
- Document Management:
- Type judgments and file correspondences accurately
- Handle the filing and recording of all documents and court files
- Court Preparation:
- Prepare court rolls for various cases and ensure the readiness of court files
- Verify and update registers for reviews and reserved judgments
- Administrative Duties:
- Order and manage stationery supplies
- Organize travel and accommodation arrangements for the Judge
- Maintain the Judge’s logbook and handle vehicle maintenance
- Courtroom Duties:
- Prepare bench books and ensure the presence of all stakeholders
- Administer oaths, handle exhibits, and accurately record court orders
- Miscellaneous:
- Submit monthly travel and expense claims
- Manage updates in the Judge’s library and handle general administrative tasks
