    Anova Health Institute NPC is a non-governmental organization that enhances lives through quality healthcare solutions. Our mission is to improve health and well-being, particularly for those most in need. Our Jab Smart project, initiated in late 2017, focuses on addressing HIV among people who use drugs (PWUD) in the City of Johannesburg (COJ). This peer-led initiative offers harm reduction services and is supported by the Global Fund through NACOSA.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • Education:
      • Minimum of Grade 12.
    • Skills and Experience:
      • Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
      • Ability to build trust and communicate effectively with active drug users.
      • Strict adherence to confidentiality requirements.
      • Reliable and punctual.
      • Prior knowledge of HIV/AIDS and a recognized HIV counseling certificate is advantageous.
    • Employment Equity:

    • Vaccination Policy:
      • As a health service provider, Anova has a mandatory vaccination policy. Successful applicants will need to provide proof of vaccination before starting employment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Peer Mobilization:
      • Recruit a minimum of 80 clients monthly to introduce them to the program and available services.
      • Conduct risk assessments for these clients.
      • Refer clients to relevant healthcare professionals such as Nurses, HTS, Linkage Officers, Advocacy Officers, and Social Auxiliary Workers.
    • Field Support:
      • Deliver harm reduction information and packages to at least 80 clients each month.
      • Manage your cohort, ensuring they receive necessary services and provide updates to the coordinator.
    • Mapping:
      • Identify and add at least two new sites to the mapping tool each month.
    • Debriefing and Counseling:
      • Participate in social debriefing sessions and provide monthly feedback to the coordinator.
      • Attend psychosocial counseling sessions and report monthly to the coordinator.
    • Additional Tasks:
      • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the line manager.
