    Student Advisor Job Description

    In this role, you’ll have the chance to connect with prospective students and guide them through the initial steps of their higher education journey. From presenting at schools to interviewing students and managing the application process, you’ll be instrumental in shaping students’ futures.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Presentation Target

    As a Student Advisor, one of your primary responsibilities will be to engage with prospective students and their parents through presentations:

    • Delivering compelling presentations at targeted schools to generate interest in The IIE’s Varsity College programs.
    • Representing the institution at career expos and other stakeholder events.
    • Distributing marketing materials to interested students and fielding inquiries.
    • Achieving monthly presentation targets to maximize student reach.

    2. Database Collection

    Expanding the prospective student database is essential to the role:

    • Gathering contacts from school visits to build a robust database.
    • Meeting monthly collection targets to ensure the ongoing growth of our prospective student pool.

    3. Interview Target

    The Student Advisor will be in charge of setting up and conducting student interviews:

    • Proactively contacting prospective students to arrange interviews.
    • Responding quickly to online and phone inquiries and confirming proof of payment for applications.
    • Achieving individual interview targets (daily, weekly, monthly, and annual).

    4. Application Target

    The Student Advisor will play a vital role in converting student interest into action:

    • Assisting students with the application process during interviews.
    • Following up on applications to ensure completion and payment.
    • Conducting calling campaigns to convert interviewees to applicants.

    5. Registration Target

    In this role, you’ll support the campus in moving from applications to final registrations:

    • Converting completed applications into registrations to meet campus targets.

    6. Administration and Reporting

    Organization is key, and your role will involve:

    • Maintaining daily records of calls, interview schedules, and updating the CRM system.
    • Ensuring all interview forms are accurate and applications are complete with necessary documentation.

    Skills and Competencies Required

    A successful Student Advisor will need:

    • Communication Skills: Clear, persuasive speaking skills to engage students, parents, and stakeholders effectively.
    • Presentation Skills: The ability to deliver compelling and informative presentations is essential.
    • Tenacity and Drive: This role is target-oriented, requiring resilience and a drive to exceed goals.
    • Time Management: Excellent organization and prioritization skills to handle a busy, varied workload.

    Qualifications and Experience

    To qualify for this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:

    • National Diploma (NQF6) with 3 years of sales experience (preferred).
    • Alternatively, a National Senior Certificate (or equivalent) with 5 years of sales experience.

    Additionally, a valid driver’s license and own vehicle are essential as travel is often required.
