    Role Overview

    The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Grade 12 English while ensuring a purposeful progression in the learning process. This role entails not only the preparation and delivery of lessons but also evaluating and reporting on learner performance.     Key Responsibilities

    • Classroom Engagement: The Grade 12 English Teacher will engage in classroom teaching to ensure a seamless progression in learning, making use of modern teaching practices such as flipped classrooms and differentiated learning.
    • Lesson Preparation and Delivery: The teacher is responsible for preparing lessons that incorporate new approaches, technology, and evaluation techniques within the English subject, ensuring that content is relevant and engaging for learners.
    • Learner Support and Development: The role includes planning and coordinating the learner’s academic progress, offering extra lessons where needed, and assisting the principal with learner counselling, career guidance, discipline, and general welfare.
    • Administrative Duties: The teacher will handle record-keeping, update learner attendance and assessment databases, and perform statistical analysis as per the Department of Education’s requirements. This also includes participating in moderation of test and examination papers.
    • Programme of Assessment: Maintaining the SBA programme of assessment and ensuring that all evaluation results are captured accurately and timeously.
    • School Community Involvement: The teacher will collaborate with parents and guardians, providing regular feedback on learner progress and engaging with the school community to foster a supportive learning environment.

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    • Educational Background: The ideal candidate must possess a recognised four-year teaching degree or diploma from an accredited tertiary institution. FET qualifications are essential.
    • Professional Registration: Registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE) is mandatory, and experience with IEB Grade 12 content will be advantageous.
    • Curriculum Familiarity: In-depth knowledge of the CAPS curriculum is crucial, along with proficiency in modern teaching techniques that cater to various learner needs.
    • Entrepreneurial Insight: A genuine passion for entrepreneurship is vital for this position. Experience in personal entrepreneurial endeavours will be a valuable asset.
    • Communication and Computer Literacy: The teacher should demonstrate excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.

Occasionally, the teacher may be expected to perform additional non-teaching administrative duties.
