Minimum Requirements

- Qualification: NQF Level 6 in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Electronic Engineering.
- Experience: 3 – 5 years in switching, security, and cabling.
- Skills:
- Understanding and application of network infrastructure, hardware, and peripherals.
- Knowledge of application transport and network protocols.
- Awareness of network security and associated risks.
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Network Engineer at DUT, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Network Maintenance: Administering systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
- Disaster Recovery: Performing data backups and disaster recovery operations as needed.
- Network Security: Coordinating, planning, and implementing security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems.
- Hardware Replacement: Replacing faulty network hardware components when necessary.
- Software Maintenance: Configuring and monitoring virus protection software and email applications.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitoring network performance and making adjustments to optimize performance.
- User Support: Conferring with network users to resolve existing system problems.
- Master Console Operations: Operating master consoles to monitor network and computer system performance.
- Network Access Coordination: Managing computer network access and usage.
