Junior Data Analyst Job Description
This position focuses on collaborating with and supporting Spar’s usage of Master Data (MD) within Southern Africa. If you’re detail-oriented, self-driven, and passionate about data governance and management, this is an excellent opportunity to grow in a challenging and rewarding role.
Key Responsibilities
The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities aimed at ensuring efficient and secure handling of Article Master Data (MD). Here’s a breakdown of the key performance areas:
1. Master Data Governance
- Collaborate with business units to ensure compliance with MD design, policies, and procedures.
- Assist the Master Data Manager in developing and maintaining data-related processes and standards.
- Contribute to the creation and validation of data listing rules.
2. Master Data Management
- Investigate and provide solutions for escalated data issues.
- Oversee MD operations, including data capturing, cleansing, classification, and validation.
- Maintain article attributes in alignment with internal guidelines and GS1 industry standards.
- Extract and analyze data for operational use.
- Authenticate and authorize user access to MD, ensuring robust security.
- Support internal and external stakeholders in maintaining data quality and integrity.
3. Metadata Management
- Contribute to the development of MD metadata processes and standards.
- Document business context around metadata, including terms, concepts, and relationships.
4. Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and report on data quality.
- Identify and implement process improvement opportunities based on user feedback and stakeholder input.
- Provide insights to inform training content development.
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Services, or a related field.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience working on MD-related projects.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Familiarity with FMCG supply chain principles and technologies.
- Proficiency in SAP MD and SAP S4/HANA systems.
- Competence in SQL, Microsoft Excel, and other data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of GS1 standards related to Article MD.
