    Key Responsibilities of a Plant Operator

    As a Plant Operator, your primary responsibility is to ensure the efficient operation of plant equipment to maximize ore recovery in line with production targets. You will play a key role in supporting the mine’s overall business goals while maintaining safety and cleanliness within the plant.

    Key Performance Areas:

    1. Financial Perspective:
      • Maintain financial effectiveness by following standard operating procedures, ensuring there is no unnecessary wastage or damage.
      • Escalate potential risks and challenges to your supervisor to ensure efficient resource utilization.
    2. Internal Business Process Perspective:
      • Ore Processing: Safely process ore to meet the shift’s production targets.
      • Adherence to Procedures: Follow all plant policies, supervisor instructions, and escalate issues when necessary to maintain safety, cleanliness, and product quality.
      • Operation of Equipment: Operate plant equipment and machinery in line with safety standards and procedures.
      • Housekeeping: Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the plant.
    3. People and Personal Development:
      • Take responsibility for your own performance and continuously seek to improve your skills.
      • Engage in discussions on training needs to cross-skill and upskill for better performance.
      • Team Contribution: Be an active and supportive team player, respecting diversity, and sharing knowledge and best practices.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required

    • Education: Matric (Grade 12)
    • Driving License: Preferential but not mandatory
    • Experience:
      • Experience in ore processing is advantageous.
      • Knowledge of plant operations, conveyors, and related equipment is beneficial.
      • Experience in crushing, conveying, and material handling is also a plus.
      • Willingness to work shifts on a 24/7 schedule.
